EFT & the Aha Moment!

Oprah loves an “aha” moment, and when it comes to teaching EFT workshops we consider aha moments essential in helping people easily feel the personal benefits of EFT for them.

Gary Craig, the man behind EFT, recommends guiding the group to use EFT to tap for common issues so that they can experience an improvement on at least one of them:

Gary: That’s why I usually do group tapping for (1) chocolate cravings, (2) physical discomforts and (3) a bothersome memory. Most people get results on all 3 and hardly anyone leaves without at least one impressive result.

Experiencing the benefits of EFT in a group is easy with an experienced EFT practitioner to coach you through. But it can be done on you won easily too, and that’s why we made the step-by-step EFT MP3 to go with our eBook.

If you fancy trying EFT free, here and now for food cravings, just pick up a bar of chocolate, can of soda, lump of cheese – or whatever else is your edible temptation and hop over to the EFT learn the basics page. Focus your attention on the one food you chose to experiment with and follow the instructions through and see what happens.

Why not let me know how you get on?

EFT & the Acupuncture Connection

a sentence about your site

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a healing tool based on the theory that our emotions and physical symptoms are linked to the underlying energy system of the body. That energy system is the acupuncture meridian system known to the Chinese for thousands of years.

EFT & the Courage to be Me

“Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do and damned if you don’t.” – Eleanor Roosevelt, first lady

Sad but true! I’ve met some truly outstanding people in my time, one of whom I couldn’t imagine anyone ever wanting to criticise, but they did! And sometimes they still do. Does it stop him acting from his heart? No. And that is one of the many reasons that provokes my profound admiration and respect for him.

To really live, as in to be alive rather than just existing, we have to be brave. I’ve found EFT helps.

You can learn EFT here, pick a problem and tap the points through. How about trying something like a set up phrase of “I seek the courage to be me, and I accept myself.”  And tapping the points through with a reminder phrase “the courage to be me” or ” the courage to act from my heart” or both!

I sometimes set myself EFT projects or challenges. I’ll pick something like this and tap it through every day for a week.

Any questions or comments on EFT, post them here, I’d be happy to hear from you.

Guest Article: Anxiety

By Jim Sullivan

Anxiety is a pernicious little devil; it can hold us back, freeze our creativity and diminish our ability to fight our way out of trouble. Anxiety leads to a ‘vicious cycle’ in which anxiety feeds poor performance which increases anxiety and . . . you get the picture.

We all understand that severe problems make us anxious — career difficulties, financial worries, medical problems. What many people do not appreciate is the low-grade or ‘background’ anxiety which affects every person, every day.

Desmond Morris put it well when he said that we have constructed a “human zoo”. People in modern society exhibit behaviours which simply aren’t seen in wild animals — until they are enclosed in zoos. And it’s our wild nature which we need to look to if we wish to understand this ‘background anxiety’.

DIY Emotional Relief – Private & Dignified

One of the key benefits of EFT is that it’s designed as a DIY self-help tool. That means once you learn the EFT basics, you can enjoy the benefits of EFT anywhere and anytime you choose.

One of my favourite things about the DIY nature of EFT is that it offers the opportunity to get relief from anxiety and old memories that you might not want to share with others, either socially or professionally. Some of my happiest moments when teaching EFT workshops have been when a participant tells me they shook an old fear or memory off that they had never spoken about to anyone.

An old secret dreaded memories, dealt with and laid to rest personally and privately. IMHO, that’s real personal development.

You can learn EFT basics here, but please do come back to me with any questions, or look up our full easy learn EFT package, EFT is too good to miss out on because you didn’t know how to get it working right.

Is there a link between cancer and our emotions?

Over on the hugely popular health internet site: www.mercola.com Dr Mercola offers a list of 12 lifestyle changes that he believes will radically reduce the odds of developing any cancer. Number six on his list is having some emotional control a factor that he considers may be even more important than the physical measures included in his list.

“Have a tool to permanently erase the neurological short-circuiting that can activate cancer genes. Even the CDC states that 85 percent of disease is caused by emotions. It is likely that this factor may be more important than all the other physical ones listed here, so make sure this is addressed. Energy psychology seems to be one of the best approaches and my particular favorite tool, as you may know, is the Emotional Freedom Technique.” Dr Mercola

The great thing about EFT is that it really does settle emotional issues, including past traumas, hurts and resentments. Once you’ve learned the basic routine, you can use it for anything – it’s always the same sequence, all you need to do is change your focus.
Why not give EFT a try today? Just click on EFT – Learn the Basics and pick an emotion you’d like to work with, fix your mind on it and work through the basic instructions and see what EFT can do for you. If you have any questions or comments, I would be happy to hear from you.

Plan Ahead for Coping with Panic

Do you know what to do when you are having a panic attack? By preparing for panic ahead of time, it’s possible to learn to cope with your symptoms and even reduce the number of attacks you have, in the long run.

Cathleen Henning About.com’s Guide to Panic / Anxiety Disorders

Cathleen makes a good point here. The horrible thing about panic attacks is that they can rob you of the power to act and be in control when they strike. Many people have told me that they find this fear of being out of control the hardest part to deal with. And that’s why I made the Quick Anxiety Stopper MP3. The idea being that you can listen to it anytime, anywhere and just follow along with the simple instructions to start feeling calm and in control again.

The Quick Anxiety Stopper is a great tool for working ahead of time with panic and getting prepared. It’s a fact that preparation alone can make panic attacks less frequent and more manageable if they do occur.
I’m offering a freebie here to the first person who comments on this post. If you are troubled by panic attacks, leave a comment here and I’ll see to it that you get a free download of our anxiety relief MP3.

Anger Management – EFT with the ‘Hellraiser’

I will never forget the day I walked into a centre where I was practising EFT to find the receptionist looking downright scared. I walked in to my room and she followed whispering “Your first client is waiting, oh God Ananga, are you sure you want to do this? He looks dangerous.”

I set my mobile phone to dial the number of reception at the touch of one button, just in case help was required, and went out to meet the client.

As I greeted him and shook his hand, I found myself looking into the face of the scariest looking person I have ever encountered. Everything about that mans face said “be very, very afraid of me”. Yet I felt a different message from his hand shake and lead him into my room with a strange blend of apprehension and curiosity.

He sat down heavily and said “I need you to help me before I kill someone.” OK I said, and then sat and listened as he told me of his past and how his anger had built and built over the years. How at borstal he survived spells of bedwetting by being too terrifying to tease or bully about it. How last week he had thrown a man down a flight of steps for being sarcastic to him. And having done that, realised he was in danger of ending up in prison again. Plus, and the pain in his face was obvious when saying this, his family where all scared of him and avoided him.

By this time in my career, I was firmly convinced that EFT works. But this was a real challenge for me. I had to sit with a furious and frightening looking man and suggest that he started tapping different points on his face and body to get rid of his anger! Anyone who runs EFT workshops will tell you that they have to get over the point of teaching people something that looks weird. I don’t know how many times I’ve stood up and said “OK what I’m about to show you here looks odd, but it really does work, so stick with me for a few minutes…”

I decided to start by using one of the EFT points that really helps let off steam. I tapped the side of my eye and had him do the same as he continued to speak (there was a moment where I was afraid that he would erupt at the ludicrousness of my suggesting such a thing for such an intense and major problem, but I knew that once we got going things should start to diffuse quite nicely like a pressure valve). After a few minutes, and him being aware of some release, we could use EFT more specifically to start getting the rest of his energy system back on line and to bring in the resources I have spoken of here. We tapped for angry memories and situations; we tapped for “anger being the only thing that gets me through” etc etc. Oh how I love EFT in these situations! That such a technique exists that can reset the energy fuses and sooth the beliefs that cause them to repeatedly trip out at the same time is something we can all be very very glad for.

At the end of our time together that man had a sensitivity and softness about him that makes my eyes well up every time I remember him. He was a very intelligent, very sensitive human being who had found himself in a series of abusive and threatening situations throughout his life, one after the other, until he found himself living in hell and, one day, decided to become a master of hell rather than its slave. As he got up to leave he stepped forward and hugged me, I hugged him back and found myself feeling great warmth for him, and admiration too.

As he left the centre the ladies behind reception stood and watched with their mouths hanging open, the change was that apparent. And next week when he returned he told me that he had spent some time with his family again and that they had all declared that something in him had changed and they now wanted to keep in touch.

Next time you want to let off a little steam, try tapping the EFT point at the side of your eye.

Getting Rid of Grains of Sand

It is not the mountains ahead that wear you out.
It’s the grain of sand in your shoe.

I’m going to be posting a free EFT in a nutshell page here soon. And when I do, I encourage everyone to use it to get rid of the grains of sand in their shoes! In my personal experience, EFT is a great tool for tapping away the niggles in life. It frees up resources and energy too. It can be a tiring business hobbling round with that little grain wearing away at you.
