EFT - the basics

EFT is a self-help meridian based tool that involves simply tapping on a set sequence of potent acupuncture points while focused on one specific issue or feeling that is causing disturbance.

Here’s a chart of the acupuncture treatment points used in EFT

Step 1

Name the problem in your own words. Keep it simple - something like “I’m really stressed” is perfect.

How stressed do you feel out of 10? If 0 was completely relaxed, and 10 was stressed to the max, where are you on the scale?

Rub the “sore spot” are marked on the diagram with your left had and say something like: “Even thought I feel really stressed, I deeply and completely accept myself.” Tis is called the set-up statment, and it’s repeated three times.

Step 2

Start tapping the EFT treatment points shown on the diagram, and as you do say to yourself “stressed” to keep yourself focused. Here are the points to tap:

1. eyebrow

2. side of the eye

3. under the eye

4. under the nose

5. in the centre of the chin

6. collarbone (on the part next to the breast bone)

7. under the arm (about 4 inches below armpit)

Now check in with yourself using the 0-10 scale again.

If you were stressed 7 out of 10 before, what is your number now?

Note your improvement, and then tap the EFT sequence again until you feel really calm and comfortable.

Step 3

Feel better!

This picture was taken at a public EFT workshop in Brighton UK. There were about 60 people in the audience. When we asked anyone in physical pain to join us at the front we were surprised to find over 20 people step forward. At the end of the group demo they all said they felt some relief.
