Are you Scared to Say No?

Are you overburdened? Do you have to trawl through too many “to do’s” in the course of a day?

One way to cut down on the rising pile of musts and shoulds is to get comfortable with the saying no sometimes.

You may have noticed that you sometimes say yes out of a sense of guilt or obligation and when you already have too much on your plate. The trouble with saying yes from a place of unease is that you can easily get stressed and resentful of the task, or the person who requested it.

Sometimes the biggest favour you can do yourself and your family and friends is to cut back on overload and stress. That way you can get clear for what’s really important in your life. That doesn’t mean you have to say no to everything. It simply means you that you can be selective and get freed up and gain some space to set out your priorities.

If you find yourself cringing at the thought of saying no to someone, EFT might be just what you need. Thousands of people now use EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques as a self-coaching tool. All you need to do is look up the EFT Chart & Instructions and pick an opening statement that describes how you feel about saying no in one specific situation (you can get to the others later, for now you need to get very specific). An example might be “Even though I never feel I can say no to…”

Pick a phrase and tap your way through the sequence, you might be doing yourself and huge and liberating favour!

Using EFT for Comfort Habits – eating, shopping etc…

Over on  tappingluau.com Olivia just posted a great way to work with EFT – she calls it “tapping for shadow comforts” here’s an excerpt:

I learned about a new concept today that was very helpful and inspirational to me—“shadow comforts”.  I googled to see who first thought of this concept, and apparently it’s been around for quite a while, but it’s been popularized by one of my favorite authors, Jennifer Louden.  She describes shadow comforts as “things like too many cookies, mindless TV, web surfing, shopping for that 15th pair of black pants”…oh, yeah, I know what she means.

She makes a good point here about getting ahead and getting prepared with shadow comforts. It’s a fact, once the urge is there to shop, surf, eat etc it’s almost too late to tap for it. Almost but not quite…

The easiest way to to sneak up on shadow comfort urges is to simply and mechanically tap through the three point quick anxiety stopper sequence. This is a set of three potent acupuncture points (contained within the full EFT sequence) that are known to stop anxiety and cravings quickly and easily – and with no words being necessary. One of the biggest challenges for people in learning EFT is the set-up statement. “I don’t know what to say!” is the most common FAQ on any EFT bulletin board. With the quick anxiety stopper sequence, you don’t have to say anything. Just tap the three points one after the other and then repeat until you feel calm and in control and completely free from the shadow comfort feeling.

The quick anxiety stopper can be downloaded on it’s own as an mp3 audio anxiety reducing session for just $5 or can be acquired as one of the MP3 bonuses with the EFT eBook: The Art & Science of Emotional Freedom, which, by the way, tells you exactly how to “get the words right” with loads of examples.

Report: EFT & Controlling Diabetes

A diabetes epidemic is overtaking the United States and the rest of the world. In less than 20 years, governments and social security systems may go broke paying expenses generated by this preventable illness. Diabetes cases are expected to double before the year 2025, and their health care costs will increase from $163 billion per year to $396 billion or more.

But while hospitals and public health services gear up for what they describe as an inevitable catastrophe, a small but growing number of diabetes patients are learning how to lose weight, balance their blood sugar, reduce their bodies’ need for insulin, and heal complications such as leg ulcers and insufficient circulation in the toes and feet. They are doing this not by going on rigorous diets or exercise programs but rather by tapping with their fingertips on key acupuncture points while focusing on symptoms or emotional issues.

“EFT is bioenergetic medicine,” explains best-selling health author Joseph Mercola, D.O. “It’s based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years, but without the invasiveness of needles. This combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing positive affirmations works to clear the ‘short-circuits’ – the emotional blocks – from the body’s bioenergy system, thus restoring the balance that is essential for optimal health and the healing of physical disease. More than any traditional or alternative method I have used or researched, EFT works.”

Los Angeles physician Eric Robins, MD, agrees. “Some day the medical profession will wake up and realize that unresolved emotional issues are the main cause of 85 percent of all illnesses, including diabetes,” he says. “When they do, EFT will be one of their primary healing tools, as it already is for me.”

Guest Article: Destroy Limiting Decisions by Jan Tincher

Did you make a limiting decision as you were growing up? Maybe one
that said you couldn’t do something that basically everyone else could do,
but you decided you were too short, too tall, too rich, too poor, too fat,
too skinny, too cute, too ugly, etc.

Well, you’ve grown up and you’ve definitely changed since then, but you
still seem to *think* that way.

Maybe you are still too tall or whatever, and aren’t able to change that fact,
but you *can* change the way you think about it. You can take that limiting
decision and change it so you don’t *feel* that way, and most of all so you
don’t react negatively to it.

Here’s what you do…

Guest Article: Holding the Key to Your Emotions by Lesley Moore

Do you often feel that your mood is controlled by the people around you? Do you often find that even on one of your best days, there is always that one person who throws a wrench in it?

Many times, even when you’re having a great day, one unexpected turn can make that perfect day look horrible. Maybe it’s your co-worker who sees everything as negative, the slow driver holding up traffic, or your teenager’s hormones going wild…but in that instant, the positive outlook that you worked so hard to hold onto all day, is gone. Just like that. Suddenly you find yourself in the same negative space your co-worker is in, or with the same raging hormones your son/daughter now has.

How many times have you caught yourself saying, I was fine until you came in with that attitude?! As if someone else holds the key to your emotions, you quickly forget that you created the positive state you were in all day. It becomes almost an outer body experience, as someone else’s mood takes over yours. But do you have to let someone else’s day dictate how yours will go? Or can you truly hold onto the day you were already having, regardless of what else happens?

EFT & the Aha Moment!

Oprah loves an “aha” moment, and when it comes to teaching EFT workshops we consider aha moments essential in helping people easily feel the personal benefits of EFT for them.

Gary Craig, the man behind EFT, recommends guiding the group to use EFT to tap for common issues so that they can experience an improvement on at least one of them:

Gary: That’s why I usually do group tapping for (1) chocolate cravings, (2) physical discomforts and (3) a bothersome memory. Most people get results on all 3 and hardly anyone leaves without at least one impressive result.

Experiencing the benefits of EFT in a group is easy with an experienced EFT practitioner to coach you through. But it can be done on you won easily too, and that’s why we made the step-by-step EFT MP3 to go with our eBook.

If you fancy trying EFT free, here and now for food cravings, just pick up a bar of chocolate, can of soda, lump of cheese – or whatever else is your edible temptation and hop over to the EFT learn the basics page. Focus your attention on the one food you chose to experiment with and follow the instructions through and see what happens.

Why not let me know how you get on?

EFT & the Acupuncture Connection

a sentence about your site

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a healing tool based on the theory that our emotions and physical symptoms are linked to the underlying energy system of the body. That energy system is the acupuncture meridian system known to the Chinese for thousands of years.

EFT & the Courage to be Me

“Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do and damned if you don’t.” – Eleanor Roosevelt, first lady

Sad but true! I’ve met some truly outstanding people in my time, one of whom I couldn’t imagine anyone ever wanting to criticise, but they did! And sometimes they still do. Does it stop him acting from his heart? No. And that is one of the many reasons that provokes my profound admiration and respect for him.

To really live, as in to be alive rather than just existing, we have to be brave. I’ve found EFT helps.

You can learn EFT here, pick a problem and tap the points through. How about trying something like a set up phrase of “I seek the courage to be me, and I accept myself.”  And tapping the points through with a reminder phrase “the courage to be me” or ” the courage to act from my heart” or both!

I sometimes set myself EFT projects or challenges. I’ll pick something like this and tap it through every day for a week.

Any questions or comments on EFT, post them here, I’d be happy to hear from you.

Guest Article: Anxiety

By Jim Sullivan

Anxiety is a pernicious little devil; it can hold us back, freeze our creativity and diminish our ability to fight our way out of trouble. Anxiety leads to a ‘vicious cycle’ in which anxiety feeds poor performance which increases anxiety and . . . you get the picture.

We all understand that severe problems make us anxious — career difficulties, financial worries, medical problems. What many people do not appreciate is the low-grade or ‘background’ anxiety which affects every person, every day.

Desmond Morris put it well when he said that we have constructed a “human zoo”. People in modern society exhibit behaviours which simply aren’t seen in wild animals — until they are enclosed in zoos. And it’s our wild nature which we need to look to if we wish to understand this ‘background anxiety’.
